In our marbling class you will experience the creation of 2 marbled works. Clay colour choices will vary on the day. Student's will learn about the process of introducing pigment's/stain's to their clay bodies to create rich sonic pallets. Colour's will range on the day.

This course was designed to allow the new potter to discover and practice the basic mechanics of throwing clay on the wheel whilst delving into the beginning process and exploration of marbling. Throughout the lesson, techniques and method's will be shared, discussed and implemented with a key focus revolving around marbling or more commonly known in teh pottery world as Neriage. Neriage was made popular in Japan and is termed as an artistic technique for creating Japanese pottery in multiple colours of clay
Once the pieces have been created, they will then be dried for sometime and receive 2 firing's.
The first a bisque fire. The second being a glaze fire making the pieces food safe and dishwasher safe. Option to leave the clay raw (without glaze) ask your teacher. This class does not allow the students to glaze the pot's as the main focus is on the marbling glaze that will go onto the pieces will be translucent showcasing the marbled effect.
About Clay Temple
Our wheel throwing classes are small and designed to give the students more undivided attention towards learning the mechanics of wheel throwing. Our studio only has a maximum of 6 students at a time. We will provide hand's on instructions to help guide you through every step along the way to bringing your clay to life.
Once students have completed the intro class, students will be given a ticket and opportunity to further their passion for pottery and par-take in a 6 week intensive wheel throwing course if requested. Please see 6 week course for more information.
