Embark on an artistic adventure with cross collaborators Clay Temple.co & Beautiful Things by Jasmine, where you will discover the exciting world of Obvara, an ancient Eastern European ceramic firing technique dating back to the 12th century.
Step into the realm of artistic exploration as you embark on a collaborative journey split into two Workshops with Clay Temple.co and Beautiful Things by Jasmine. Together, we invite you to uncover the enchanting world of Obvara, an ancient Eastern European ceramic firing technique steeped in history since the 12th century.
Obvara, a method shrouded in mystery and tradition, involves the mesmerizing process of dipping bisque-fired pottery into a distinctive fermented concoction of flour, yeast, sugar, and water, followed by rapid cooling. The result? A breathtaking tapestry of textures and patterns, where the unpredictable dances hand in hand with the beautiful.
At Beautiful Things by Jasmine & Clay Temple we believe in providing a nurturing environment for our students. Both sessions/workshops are intentionally kept small, accommodating between six to nine participants at a time, ensuring you receive personalised attention and guidance.
In the first segment of your adventure, you'll mold your own narrative with two wheel-thrown vessels, guided by the skilled hands and expertise of Clay Temple's wheel throwing instructors. Once these vessels have been fired, we'll welcome you back to the home studio of Beautiful Things by Jasmine (Banora Point, NSW) to embark on your journey into Obvara.
Whether you're a seasoned artisan or a curious novice, our wheel-throwing workshops offer a welcoming refuge to explore your imagination and depart with a treasure trove of inspiration.
