Class runs for 1.30 minutes

What you will recieve on the day

• 2 x 500 grams of clay
• Guidance and techniques from a experienced potter and pottery teacher
• Students will have two completed vessels by the end of class that will receive a complimetnary bisque fire. 

What to bring with you

• Patience and determination :)
• having short nails will help, trimming is recommended
• Don't forget those hair-ties!
• Something to cover your eyes if your daring and dedicated enough.

Students can choose to come back and glaze there pots if they wish...

• This is $20.00 per person to have access to our range of glazes, then the cost of glaze firing at the end (this will be calculated at the end and is $12.00 a kilo)

Students will be focusing on perfecting their prep skills for wheel throwing with learning how to wedge as well as delving into a deeper look at their centering and pulling skills.  

If students feel daring and comfortable enough, students are encouraged to bring blindfolds to their class in order for the students to connect more with the feeling of the clay rather than the visual aspect of it. 

 This will allow the students to better understand how pottery is very much based around muscle memory and attention to touch. 

This course was designed to allow the new potter to further their understanding of the prep required off the wheel for successful wheel throwing as well as perfecting their technique's on the wheel. Discover and practice the mechanics of wedging clay and centering it on the wheel. Throughout the lesson, techniques and method's will be shared and discussed and put into practice.

The vessel's created at the end of class will receive one bisque fire, students are able to glaze/paint their pieces if requested for a small additional cost. Our wheel throwing classes are small and designed to give the students more undivided attention towards learning the mechanics of wheel throwing.

Our studio is only capable of having 6 students at a time. We will provide hand's on instructions to help guide you through every step along the way to bringing your clay to life. 

Once students have completed the intro class, students will be given a ticket and opportunity to further their passion for pottery and par-take in a 6 week intensive wheel throwing course if requested. Please see 6 week course for more information. 

Age requirements

• These classes are suitable for ages 14 + and up.
• Please note, it is very highly recommended that parent's should attend/partake in class for children 14 + and up, so don't forget to book in early.  

If you wish for your child to attend a wheel throwing class, keep your eye's peeled for our school holiday program where ages 10 and up are able to attend.
